Renowned conservative commentator Tucker Carlson has openly criticized Chris Christie, a potential Republican presidential contender, for his opposing stance on the ongoing war in Ukraine. Utilizing his wide-reaching platform on Twitter, Carlson publicly invited Christie to elucidate his position. However, he voiced concern over Christie’s alleged refusal to engage in a meaningful conversation.
In a recent tweet, Carlson expressed:
“Sounds like this could use a longer conversation. We just asked @GovChristie to sit down and explain his views on Ukraine. He refused.”
Moreover, Carlson questioned Christie’s perceived evasion of critical issues, casting doubt on his courage and readiness to engage in substantial dialogue:
“You hate to think that Chris Christie is a blustery coward who plays the tough guy with sycophants at ABC but won’t answer real questions, but who knows? We hope he reconsiders.”
Christie contended that the conflict in Ukraine is not merely a regional dispute but, more importantly, a proxy war with China. He argued that China aids the Russian war effort by purchasing Russian oil and conspiring with Iran to supply lethal weapons to the Russian army.
“I would have said, ‘You’ve always been wrong about this, Tucker, and you’re still wrong. That, in fact, what’s going on, George, is that this is a proxy war with China. The Chinese are funding the Russian war by buying Russian oil. They’re coordinating with the Iranians to provide lethal weapons to the Russian army,”
“And we can decide when to have this conflict. Right now the Ukrainians are willing to fight this fight for themselves if they have our support to be able to win it. If the Chinese watch us back away from Ukraine, as Tucker Carlson and others would advocate, believe me, the next move will be Taiwan.”
Perceived as a 2024 presidential dark horse, Chris Christie has long been characterized as a neo-conservative, often endorsing interventions that could potentially involve Americans in conflicts abroad. In stark contrast, Tucker Carlson showcases an aversion to such wars, particularly those that do not directly threaten America’s security. Instead, he adopts a more populist approach, emphasizing an ‘America First’ strategy.
Christie’s alignment on foreign affairs, which could potentially involve considerable economic expenditure or risk American lives, appears to be closely in sync with Democrats, including Joe Biden. This convergence raises concerns for Carlson.
The conservative commentator felt compelled to challenge Christie’s priorities, suggesting that the latter appears more focused on the situation in Ukraine and preventing a potential Donald Trump re-election, even if it implies ensuring another term for Biden in 2024. Thus, Carlson seeks to question Christie’s commitment to domestic concerns in favor of international ones.
Go Tucker Go
The only thing Christie knows is where his next cheeseburger is coming from………He is a hack….
