On Thursday morning police responded to a possible bomb threat near the United States Capitol. Police reportedly are investigating a pickup truck near the Library of Congress containing a suspicious item.
Currently, the area is under an active bomb threat investigation and multiple buildings are being evacuated.

According to Fox News:
Aaron Fritschner, communications director for Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va), shared on Twitter screenshots of message alerts he had received from the police agency. One message sent at 9:53 a.m. states, “Madison: Internal Security Threat: move inside office/lock doors, seek cover, and remain silent.”
A subsequent message states: “Jefferson: EVACUATE. Proceed to your designated assembly area. DO NOT exit out of the west side (First Street) of the building.”

Many lawmakers are currently out of Washington, D.C. for August recess.
New reports from CNN say that a man inside of the vehicle and is communicating with police by using a whiteboard. The truck has no license plates.
Update:
The man has reportedly told the officer he has a bomb on the truck. (per The Hill)
“The driver of the truck told the responding officer on the scene that he had a bomb and what the officer said appeared to be a detonator in the man’s hand,” Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger said during a brief press conference.
“We don’t know a whole lot. We do have a possible name, an identity of the suspect but we don’t have much information at all about him at this time. We’re going to give periodic updates,” Manger said.
“My negotiators are hard at work trying to have a peaceful resolution to this incident,” he said.
Update:
Police eventually took the man into custody Thursday afternoon.

It is a measure of the distrust of the government which has grown up in the years since Clinton first took office (thereby introducing industrial scale corruption to a process which, until then, tho’ not pristine, had been surprisingly less hinky than it had the capacity to be), that my first reaction to this whole “bomb threat at the Capitol” news was that it was just another “False Flag” operation by Pelosi and her coterie of crooks. They had failed miserably at turning a couple rowdy visitors, back in January, into an existential threat to the Republic, so now they had to up the ante. I mean, seriously, all I could picture was someone setting off a “glitter bomb” near the Capitol steps and we’d spend the next 3 months listening to Pelosi screaming for the National Guard to “put down the insurrection” while AOC regaled us with tales about how, from her office a block away, it was just like being in a war!
