Public schools across America have been permitted by federal courts to clandestinely facilitate the social transitioning of students, bypassing parental consent, a decision which has sparked controversy about parental rights. The case of an 11-year-old girl in Ludlow, MA, who is the daughter of Stephen Foote and Marissa Silvestri, has brought this issue into the public eye. The school staff, unbeknownst to parents, were allegedly fostering students’ social transitioning to different genders. The girl’s parents learned about their daughter’s situation when a teacher shared an email where the girl identified herself as “genderqueer.”

Ludlow’s public school policy requires staff to withhold information about students’ gender identity from parents unless students agree to disclose it. A U.S. District Court judge dismissed parents’ concerns, asserting that using preferred names and pronouns is simply respectful and doesn’t violate parental rights.

Similar circumstances in California led to a parent challenging a policy known as the “Parental Secrecy Policy.” The school claimed such policies are crucial to protect transgender students from potential harm at home. The court agreed, rejecting the argument for parental rights. Both cases are due for appeal.

Critics maintain that the surreptitious social transitioning in schools infringes on parental rights and potentially holds long-term negative implications for children. Social transitioning, they argue, is a significant mental health intervention with potential risks such as lifelong infertility, sexual difficulties, mood disorders, and increased cancer and heart disease risk. Institutions like the Manhattan Institute have expressed support for parents challenging these policies.

Child and adolescent psychiatrist, Dr. Miriam Grossman, warns of the infiltration of transgender ideology into public schools, with schools quietly promoting social transitioning under the banner of safety and inclusivity. Dr. Grossman advises parents to proactively safeguard their children’s rights and welfare, emphasizing the importance of open communication between parents and schools about gender issues.

  1. Suuuuuuure………..the Democrats want to strip away parental rights, but still expect parents to foot the bill

  2. There has to be some kind of compensation paid to schools and teachers to” buy” into this
push on gender change. There is definitely more to this than we are aware of.
