Socialist Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez can’t go five minutes without embarrassing herself, and time’s up again.
The New York freshman used a Bernie Sanders presidential campaign rally to claim the United States is a Third World dictatorship.
“We need to fight to start this work, the establishment of an advanced society,” Ocasio-Cortez whined, implying the United States are not advanced unless we agree to live under socialism.
The crowd howled in approval and began chanting “AOC.”
“The richest country—who cares about how much gold is being amassed if we can’t realize an advanced society with those resources?,” she continued, while wearing large gold earrings and a crisp red designer dress.
“We’re here to say that what we’re living in right now is not an advanced society, a society that allows people,” Ocasio-Cortez continued, sounding like a high school kid trying to be edgy.
“It is fascism,” she declared.
But is it?
“Fascism” is an economic system in which companies are privately owned, but they are centrally controlled by the government in order to advance national economic goals.
That sounds a lot like what Ocasio-Cortez herself preaches. She made headlines after her upset win when she demanded privately-owned Amazon adhere to her demands before they were allowed to relocate to New York.
She also supports central government mandates on who private companies can appoint to their boards, who they can hire and what they can produce – all to advance national economic goals.
Fascism is also marked by central government controls on political speech and expression. Ocasio-Cortez is an outspoken supporter of the “Overturn Citizens United” movement, which seeks to overturn the Supreme Court’s 2009 decision in “Citizens United v. FEC.”
In that case, the incorporated political group “Citizens United” challenged the constitutionality of the 2002 “Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act,” which banned publications or broadcasts mentioning political candidates 30 days before a presidential primary and in the 60 days before the general election.
Under BCRA, the group could be prosecuted for showing a documentary on Hillary Clinton even though it did not expressly advocate a vote for or against her.
In defending the law, government lawyers admitted BCRA allowed the federal government to prosecute corporations who produced materials mentioning political candidates and to even confiscate books and movies mentioning politicians – something normally associated with fascist regimes.
One can only imagine how embarrassed Ocasio-Cortez would be by this once someone ran out of crayons explaining it to her.
