Before yesterday, Jack Wilson was a security volunteer at West Freeway Church of Christ and a Donald Trump supporter running for county commissioner with the campaign slogan: “Make sure your vote is on target.”

Today, he’s a national hero ending a mass shooting in less than six seconds and saving many lives.

Wilson’s Facebook profile has quickly filled with well-wishes echoing sentiments like this: “Prayers for you Jack. That’s a tough thing you had to do today, but you acted quick and saved countless lives. True American hero. Thank you and God bless.”

We should note White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering confirmed at a press conference that two heroic parishioners fired almost simultaneously at the gunman. The second parishioner has not yet been identified. We will update this story with his name accordingly.

“The two security volunteers saved 242 other parishioners who were in the church,” commented Jeff Williams, a regional director of the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Here’s everything you need to know the one identified security volunteer, longtime owner of a firearms training academy, and certified hero, Jack Wilson.
