Evangelical Christians who support President Donald Trump would “sell out Jesus” to support “a con man” seeking political power, says multimillionaire activist and frequent political candidate Rev. Al Sharpton.

“The reason they’re so offended is it’s exposing all of them that they would take this shameless con man over the principles that they’re preaching in the holy season as we celebrate Jesus,” Sharpton told MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

“They would sell Jesus out if they felt they could get something from it,” said Sharpton.

Though Sharpton rips Trump as a “con man,” in 2004 Trump allowed one of Sharpton’s mistresses to live in a Trump property luxury apartment.  At the time the two were friends, and Sharpton called Trump his “mentor.”

Trump was even a major donor to Sharpton’s “National Action Network” political group, as well as to Sharpton’s 2004 presidential campaign.

At the time Trump hoped his dealings with Sharpton would help his New Jersey casinos land high-profile boxing cards, due to Sharpton’s ties to Don King and other promoters.

“I know [Sharpton] very well, and I’ve always gotten along with him, to be honest with you,” Trump told Fox News in December 2014. “There are those who say [Sharpton] likes Trump a lot. . . . Al’s a con man. He knows it. I know it. Don King knows it, his friend, who I go to with fights with — with Al. And they all know it.”

Sharpton was ordained as a minister when he was nine years old but has spent the last several decades speaking against traditional Christian beliefs that conflicted with his rise to power in Democrat political circles.

Not only has Sharpton engaged in extramarital affairs and spoken out against traditional Biblical teachings, he is under a court order to pay damages to several New York City police officers he defamed by bearing false witness he hoped would advance his political causes.
