Today impeachment inquiry, a.k.a. professor-palooza has neatly captured the arrogance of liberal academia. Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee couldn’t find a single nonpartisan expert to weigh in on President Trump’s alleged wrongdoings.
With the inauguration barely over, some were already tweeting about how Trump should be impeached. One supposedly rational legal scholar couldn’t even walk on the same side of the street as the Trump International Hotel. Another proclaimed Trump should’ve been impeached for pardoning former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. An 1866 Supreme Court case ruled the president’s pardon powers “extends to every offense known to the law.”
Yet things got worse today. At one point, Stanford Law professor Pamela Karlan invoked 13-year-old Baron Trump in a flippant attempt to make a point.
Fortunately, Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz sits on the Judiciary Committee, and he proceeded to destroy the Democrats’ smug witnesses.
Gaetz trended on Twitter after the one-sided brawl. His Democratic challenger now has 147,000 followers. We can only hope more liberals donate to the campaign (Gaetz’s district is the 15th most Republican in the country, let progressive waste their time and money there).
