Senator Harris’ all-staff call has ended. According to one person speaking on the condition of anonymity, she sounded distraught.
In a public statement, Harris reiterated the logistical hurdles (namely lack of funding) preventing her campaign from moving forward. Three days ago, a departing senior aide penned a scathing resignation letter saying that in three presidential campaigns she had “never seen an organization treat its staff so poorly.”
Despite debuting with much fanfare, Harris’ top-tier status as a candidate quickly deteriorated. In recent weeks, it became apparent that Iowa would be her Alamo. However, her stubbornly vague plan to win there, controversial past as a tough on crime prosecutor, and staff infighting made even waiting until the caucuses impossible.
