Although state officials have not yet declared the winner of the race, the unpopular conservative Governor of Kentucky Matt Bevin is trailing with 100% of precincts reporting in his bid to be the first Republican governor to win reelection in the Bluegrass State.
At the state level, moderate Democrats remain a force to be reckoned with in Kentucky. However, that is gradually appearing to change, with five of the top six statewide races last night going to the GOP. Moreover, Trump prevailed here in 2016 by a whopping 30 point margin.
Conservative optimists find more good news with the historic election of Daniel Cameron – the first Republican attorney general to represent the state in over 70 years.

Republican Daniel Cameron made history Tuesday with his victory over former Kentucky House Speaker Greg Stumbo, becoming the first African-American to be elected the state’s attorney general — and offering a silver lining to the GOP amid drama over the state’s gubernatorial race.
The president himself supported Cameron, bestowing high praise at a Monday rally in Lexington.
“A star is born,” Trump said.
Cameron, 33, has worked in private practice and was legal counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. He grew up in Kentucky and played football for the University of Louisville.
