Son of President Clinton aide Sidney Blumenthal and family friend of Bill & Hillary, Max Blumenthal, is no stranger to controversy.
The award-winning journalist has made a name for himself in his own right. Occasionally to his detriment.
Rabbi Marvin Hier, founder of Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights organization, lambasted him as an anti-Semite for characterizing Israeli soldiers as “Judeo-Nazis.” Blumenthal has also accused American police departments of utilizing torture methods courtesy of Mideast regimes.
Last Friday, D.C. police arrested the progressive provocateur in a SWAT-style raid at his home just after 9 am. Officers placed Blumenthal in a police van, which transported him to D.C. central jail, where he remained in custody for two days.
The charges stemmed from an alleged altercation at the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, D.C. that happened last May.
Blumenthal reportedly assaulted a Venezuelan woman and kicked her repeatedly in the stomach while she lay on the ground during Code Pink protests.

At the time, Code Pink and fellow Resistance members occupied the embassy to prevent the diplomatic outpost from recognizing opposition leader Juan Guaidó as the rightful president of Venezuela.
Incumbent President Nicolás Maduro won the election, according to government tallies; however, most Democracies concluded he stole the election.
Ever the ideologue, Blumenthal showed up to oppose what he calls “the far-right Venezuelan opposition.”
He adamantly denies the charges against him.
“I was handcuffed briefly & made to mix with proletarian ruffians & eat ordinary people’s food, my therapist says I may never recover. Papa is outraged that his political contacts were unable to release me for 48 hours, he will sue – I’m traumatised I tell you, traumatised.” pic.twitter.com/0OrGSbZw63
