President Trump’s re-election campaign is threatening to sue Minneapolis over a blatant shakedown by Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey.

Trump is slated to speak at the Target Center in downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, a part of his concerted effort to put Minnesota in play in 2020.

Minneapolis city leaders want the president to pay mightly for that strategy, sending a $530,000 security bill to the venue, which passed it on to the campaign.

Team Trump wasted no time threatening to sue.

Per Hot Air:

Allowing city governments to charge arbitrary fees to politicians for campaign rallies seems like a very bad idea. That’s exactly what this is — an arbitrary and ludicrous fee charged to a politician which this city government doesn’t like.

The police union president is unhappy with Frey, and went on Fox & Friends this morning to discuss it. This may not turn out well for Frey, especially since the city has ordered police in the past to participate in presidential photo ops.

Now, Trump is trading barbs with Frey over the unresolved issue, while making it clear he still plans to show up.

When then-President Barack Obama held a rally at the Target Center in 2009, police estimated the security bill cost $20,000.
