Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s uncompromising views and unwillingness to play by Speaker Pelosi’s rules have hurt her approval rating with constituents, according to a new survey.
The survey, commissioned by the “Stop The AOC” political action committee, found that among registered Democrats in New York’s 14th District, 29% view her unfavorably while 24% are on the proverbial fence. Only 47% view her favorably.
That’s surprisingly lukewarm in a congressional district that is 29 points more Democrat-leaning than the country as a whole.
But that is not all.
Per the New York Post:
Anger directed at Ocasio-Cortez over Amazon’s decision to back out of a deal for a headquarters and campus in Long Island City has created an opening for a challenger to pound her as anti-jobs and anti-business, said Dan Backer, founder of Stop The AOC.
“The argument against AOC is Amazon, Amazon, and also Amazon,” Backer said.
Respondents were mixed on whether they would support a primary challenger to AOC — 26% said likely or somewhat likely, 43% said unlikely or somewhat unlikely with nearly a third undecided.
Canvassers for the anti-AOC group door knocked on over 5,400 Democratic households and interviewed 817 registered Dems. About two-thirds of respondents said they knew of the first-term congresswoman.
Roughly a third of those surveyed expressed an openness to supporting a Republican challenger next cycle.
