The Mueller hearings were an unmitigated disaster for the Democrats.
Even liberal concede they were optics failure and a waste of time. Perhaps no one put this in better context than former conservative congressman and Fox News firebrand Trey Gowdy who appeared on the right-leaning network to give his take.
RedState reports:
“Democrats today are not closer to impeachment than yesterday,” said Baier.
“They’re not closer to anything other than wishing this never happened. Bad facts make for bad witnesses. Bad witnesses make for bad hearings. This one was an abject, miserable failure,” responded Gowdy. [emphasis added]
He was just getting started.
“The person who learned the most about the Mueller report today was Bob Mueller,” he continued. “I say that sadly. He was not engaged. He did not interview the witnesses. He clearly didn’t write the report which means those under him did, which means the issue of bias is all the more important.” [emphasis added]
