Democratic Socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez upped the ante in her war of words with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi yesterday.
In an interview with the Washington Post, the freshman congresswoman called the country’s most powerful Democrat “outright disrespectful” for explicitly singling out newly elected women of color.
At the beginning of the week, Pelosi criticized the tactics of Ocasio-Cortez and her leftist colleagues, Reps. Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Ayanna Pressley to the New York Times.
In an earlier radio interview, Ocasio-Cortez accused the Democratic-controlled House of Representatives of using women and people of color as “bargaining chips.”
After Ocasio-Cortez’s latest salvo, Nancy “I’m not a racist!” Pelosi had a tweet of her own:
When the #EqualityAct becomes law, it will be because of the work of Americans all across the country fighting for a brighter, more equal future. Thank you, @brittneygriner, for taking time yesterday to chat with @RepGregStanton & me about why this legislation is so important! pic.twitter.com/D2vW4eL4MI
