The Republican National Committee quietly dug up footage of classic Joe Biden yesterday for the world to see.
While the Democratic frontrunner’s challengers spent the day trying to co-opt Biden’s supporters by claiming they were more woke after the longtime senator admitted to working with segregationists in Congress to get things done, Republicans found something else, something big.
That footage shows Biden, then the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, bragging on the floor of the Senate about how tough his crime bill was.
How tough was it, you ask? Well, Biden bragged that it’d hang people for everything except jaywalking.
While such views were in vogue in the early 1990s, they haven’t held up well.
Biden’s support among Democrats may be facing an insurmountable hurdle.
The clip could explain Biden’s sudden reversal on capital punishment, after being an ardent supporter for decades. (Hot Air)
Will Biden’s longstanding (but now suddenly shaky) support for the death penalty be added to the long list of Things That Didn’t Bother Liberals Between 2008 And 2016 But Do Now? Stay tuned.
In lieu of an exit question, go read the excerpt from an old newspaper article that some reporter dug up today in which Sen. Joe Biden referred to Jesse Jackson as “that boy.” It was in the course of paying him a compliment (“one of the brightest guys around”) and he used the same term to describe the extremely white Gary Hart, but we shouldn’t let basic intellectual integrity stop lefties from putting the boots to Uncle Joe in bad faith.
