The Stop AOC PAC has one purpose: make Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez a one-termer.
The organization, founded by Virginia attorney Dan Backer, is harnessing political technology and voter data in a two-prong approach to pepper voters with digital ads and convince them through old fashioned canvassing that her far-left agenda isn’t in their best interests.
The tactic appears to be paying dividends.
Door knockers recently scoured Ocasio-Cortez’s district. The results of thousands of surveys back up polling showing that New Yorkers disagree with her decision to sabotage New York City’s Amazon headquarters.
Backer told The Daily Caller the impetus behind creating the PAC, “My family came from Russia when I was a baby, and I grew up hearing what they went through. And I have a strong dislike for that ideology.”
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,” he added. “Someone had to stand up and do something. If we don’t challenge socialism, we let it win.”
The rise of Ocasio-Cortez shows in the political arena people are moved by those who are passionate and that socialism cannot be relegated to the dustbin of history.
But all is not lost.
Conservative Tribune reports:
“We did robocalls and text message polling and compared the data,” Backer said.
The results were telling.
“We saw that the district is for the Green New Deal and some of her other policies,” Backer said.
“But they’re wildly opposed to her with regard to Amazon, the reality of the jobs and the opportunities that she cost them. She screwed over the local economy in a big way, and screwed over her voters.”
The e-commerce giant ultimately scrapped a deal to build a second headquarters on Long Island because of fierce resistance from politicians like Ocasio-Cortez.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo called the Amazon debacle the “greatest tragedy” of his administration.
