Democratic Rep. John Rogers doubled down on appalling remarks he made in opposition to a pro-life bill in Alabama.
Besides opposing the bill, Rogers defended his extreme position by attacking Donald Trump Jr.
Per The Daily Caller:
Saying that President Donald Trump’s son was “evidently retarded or crazy,” Rogers argued that Trump Jr’s existence was enough to prove that he was right to support abortion rights.
Rogers had faced backlash Wednesday for comments justifying abortion. He had argued on the Alabama House floor that “unwanted” babies who were carried to term would likely end up being executed by the state after devolving into a life of crime.
“You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair. So, you kill them now or you kill them later,” he said.

Trump Jr. responded to Rogers’ statement on Wednesday, tweeting, “This is stomach curling and makes Ralph Northam look like a moderate on abortion. Every Democrat running for President needs to be asked where they stand on this. The extreme turn we’ve seen from Dems on abortion recently is truly sickening.”

When he learned of Trump Jr.’s criticism, Rogers laughed and said the 41-year-old is proof he has “a very, very good defense” for abortion.
