A Border Patrol agent killed in the line of duty marked the first death of an agent in more than a year.

“Last night, while on duty, United States Border Patrol Agent Donna Doss lost her life in Abilene, Texas. Agent Doss of Class 569 served for nearly 16 years. On behalf of U.S. Customs and Border Protection, my deepest condolences go out to her family and loved ones,” McAleenan said in a statement

The Abilene Police Officer’s Association said Doss was struck by a car while helping local law and state enforcement.

“Prayers tonight…officer down. Federal Agent in our area. Update: female border patrol agent was struck by vehicle while assisting state police and Tye police on access road off Interstate 20,” the group said in a Facebook post. 


 

CBP has not released additional information about the cause of the agent’s death or where she was stationed.

The incident marked the 128th time an active duty CBP agent has perished since 1925.
