Now that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has hit Paul Manafort with accusations of lying to federal investigators and breaking his plea deal, one legal scholar thinks he’s facing a lengthy prison sentence. (Mediaite)

Andrew Napolitano appeared on Tuesday’s broadcast of Fox & Friends to discuss Robert Mueller‘s allegation of Manafort’s lying, speculating that the former chairman of President Donald Trump‘s 2016 campaign has gotten himself into a big legal pickle.

“My prediction is he’ll be sentenced to the max, and while he’s in jail, indicted for lying to the FBI and plead guilty to that,” Napolitano said. “I doubt he will see light of day until he’s very, very old.”

Though Manafort’s attorney claims he told the truth, the judge noted that could be an issue.

“Is there going to be a trial over what he lied about? And if so, what are we going to learn in that trial?” he wondered, adding that the potential courtroom battle “could take days.”

While Mueller’s investigation doesn’t receive fawning coverage by Fox News, host Steve Doocy conceded that Mueller’s team doesn’t appear to have leaked information.
