Robert O’Neill – the man who killed Osama bin Laden – rejected the president’s criticism of his former commanding officer and fellow SEAL, retired Admiral William McRaven.
Per Mediaite:
Trump attacked retired Admiral William McRaven, who directed the 2011 raid that killed bin Laden, in an interview with Fox News anchor Chris Wallace aired Sunday. Trump derided McRaven as a “Hillary Clinton fan” and criticized the U.S. for not killing bin Laden sooner.
O’Neill backed McRaven in a tweet on Monday, saying the former Navy SEAL “was born to lead this mission.”
ADM McRaven was born to lead this mission. I’ll follow him anywhere. If only people heard the real speech he gave the Team…. https://t.co/KEzkIgYIcG

“The mission to get bin Laden was bipartisan,” O’Neill added in a subsequent tweet. “We all wanted to get him as soon as we could.”

In response to Trump’s criticism, McRaven denied backing Clinton in the 2016 election.
Despite their generally conservative views, the president’s comments drew criticism from other intelligence officials and veterans who view Trump’s remarks of unbecoming of the commander-in-chief.
