Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump blew away Senate Democrats last night.

However, the House remains another story.

As of this publication, Democrats have a net gain of 28 seats – with 20 races still outstanding.

Pundits predicted they would have gained about 24 seats by this time.

After congratulating Nancy Pelosi, President Trump fired a rhetorical salvo this morning with an unmistakable warning: If the victorious Democrats begin costly, needless investigations into his administration, that “Two can play that game!”

The Daily Caller’s Benny Johnson has more:

“If the Democrats think they are going to waste Taxpayer Money investigating us at the House level, then we will likewise be forced to consider investigating them for all of the leaks of Classified Information, at the Senate level,” Trump said in a tweet. “Two can play that game!”

The President continued, saying that Pelosi “deserves” to be Speaker of the House and that it will be good for GOP pickups in the House.

Electing House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to Speaker is not a sure thing. Many in her caucus have not come out in full support of her Speakership. Democratic Reps. Kathleen Rice of New York, Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, Filemon Vela of Texas and Tim Ryan of Ohio, who have all called for Pelosi to relinquish her leadership role.

On the other side of the aisle, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wasted no time this morning, announcing his candidacy for Minority Leader.
