A high school friend of Christine Blasey Ford has retreated from an eye-raising Facebook post written and deleted on Wednesday, in which she claimed the sexual assault allegedly perpetrated by Judge Brett Kavanaugh “did happen.” (Mediaite)
Speaking on Thursday with NPR, Ford Classmate Cristina King Miranda walked back the claims from her deleted post.
“That it happened or not, I have no idea,” Miranda said. “I can’t say that it did or didn’t.”
In the deleted Facebook post, Miranda wrote, “I did not know [Ford[ personally but I remember her. This incident did happen. Many of us heard a buzz about it indirectly with few specific details. However Christine’s vivid recollection should be more than enough for us to truly, deeply know that the accusation is true.”
Miranda cited the host of media inquiries she received following her post during her backtrack on Thursday.
Several journalists challenged Miranda’s claim that the assault was hot gossip at school, referring to Ford’s claim that she believed the attack “occurred in the summer of 1982.” Additionally, Ford told the Washington Post that she never mentioned the alleged assault before revealing the details to her therapist in 2012.
