In what should’ve been a friendly interview with Rolling Stone, Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) fell flat.
The House Minority Leader bristled about those questioning her leadership, calling the debate about retirement “a little bit on the sexist side” before forgetting Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s name. (IJR)
The interview, conducted by Tim Dickinson, covered everything from the Democrats’ odds of winning the House in 2018 to the possibility of impeaching President Donald Trump. But when the topic turned to Pelosi’s future, the minority leader was not happy.

Following this exchange, Pelosi was clearly flustered:
Pelosi: I think some of it is a little bit on the sexist side — although I wouldn’t normally say that. Except it’s like, really? Has anyone asked whatshisname, the one who’s the head of the Senate?
[Aide Jorge Aguilar, who is sitting beside Pelosi]: McConnell.
Of course, there are plenty of non-sexist reasons to oppose Pelosi’s leadership, including her age and the leftward shift of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party’s age issues: Current House leadership, Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, 78, 79, 77 years old respectively. Crowley, 56, would have been next generation leader. But he was defeated by 28 year old Ocasio-Cortez.
