A federal judge jailed former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort ahead of his fall trial after determining Manafort violated the terms of his bail by attempting to influence witness testimony.

An FBI affidavit claims Manafort, while on house arrest, used encrypted messaging applications to try to communicate with two unnamed confidants who could be witnesses to his alleged fraud and money laundering. (Breitbart)

“I cannot turn a blind eye to this,” Judge Amy Berman told a D.C. courtroom as she revoked Manafort’s bail. “This isn’t middle school, I can’t take your phone.”

Manafort will remain in jail pending the outcome of his fall trial.
