Anti-gun zealots love to grandstand and will use any opportunity to do so. Take, for example, embattled Florida Senator Bill Nelson, who recently introduced legislation that would create a national gun registry.

Colloquially known as the “Crime Gun Tracing Modernization Act,” Nelson’s convoluted bill would require the ATF to establish a streamlined, computerized database of all records pertaining to the sale, importation, production, and shipment of firearms within three years.

Currently, Big Brother is prohibited from tracking gun purchases. All transfer records remain out of their posession unless they pertain to a firearm that was involved in a crime. Only then can law enforcement get pertinent info on who bought the gun.

On a side note, without universal background checks, Nelson’s proposed legislation couldn’t create a firearm registry. It seems the Democrats want to accomplish this through a piecemeal approach with the ultimate goal knowing where every law-abiding citizen with a gun is at all times.

How this will reduce violent crime in war-torn liberal cities like Baltimore, Chicago, and Detriot remains unclear, since there’s plenty of evidence that criminals don’t follow the law when obtaining firearms anyway.

But, it would make the draconian possibility of gun confiscation terrifyingly simple.
