Parents of Clifton Middle School students in Monrovia, California were outraged to learn that Planned Parenthood was allowed to have a presence at a student health fair.
On Tuesday, the taxpayer-funded abortion chain had a table at Clifton Middle School during an event to promote mental health awareness and resources. Parents were outraged when they saw photos on social media of the Planned Parenthood table at the event. School administrators never informed them of Planned Parenthood’s presence.
According to LifeNews.com, the group distributed information on puberty, healthy relationships, birth control, and STD prevention to students as young as 11.
The outrage prompted an apology from school district Superintendent Dr. Katherine Thorossian. Thorossian conceded the school did not thoroughly vet all vendors in a letter to parents.
“Parents have a right to know what information is being distributed to their children.” wrote Thorossian. “This incident has shed light on the gap in our procedures and we will, from now on, establish and apply more stringent protocols to ensure that we properly inform our school community. We will continue to work to better serve our students and our community.”
This incident is not the first time Planned Parenthood has tried to push itself into public schools and particularly middle schools. In February, a North Carolina school district was forced to end a Planned Parenthood sex education program targeted towards middle schoolers after parents became outraged. In 2017, a Michigan school district also rejected a Planned Parenthood sex education program in the wake of parental outrage.
Also last year, Planned Parenthood tried to open a clinic inside a Pennsylvania high school. However, the clinic was also rejected in the wake of parental outrage.
According to a CBS report, Planned Parenthood’s “Get Real” sex education program provided graphic sex instructions for sixth graders. “An online petition signed by more than 1,800 people opposed to “Get Real” claims it encourages sixth graders to feel “comfortable and ready” for sex,” CBS reported. “The petition says the curriculum provides flash cards outlining proper condom usage, for “vaginal, oral or anal sex” and recommends the usage of “non-microwavable saran wrap” as a prophylactic for certain non-reproductive sex acts.”
In 2014, Planned Parenthood employees were caught on tape encouraging teenagers to participate in sexual activities.
Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion provider. It receives over $500 million in Federal taxpayer funds.
