Former NBA star Shaquille O’Neal hasn’t shied away from making his views on gun control known.
The retired basketball star, who played for the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat and was also sworn in as a reserve police officer for the city of Doral, Florida in January 2015, believes that more police officers in schools and cities are the answers to gun violence, not more gun control laws.
O’Neal made the comments during an interview on the ‘Curtis and Cosby’ show on WABC Radio after being asked about last month’s mass shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that left 17 dead.
‘You put [officers] in front of the schools, you put ’em behind the schools, you put ’em inside the schools, and we need to pass information,’ O’Neal stated, adding that he ‘would like to see police officers in schools, inner cities, private schools.’
