The Junior ROTC cadet who died saving other students from a school shooter has been given a tremendous honor for his heroism: posthumous admission to his dream school, West Point Academy.

Peter Wang, 15, was killed in last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

When alleged shooter Nikolas Cruz stormed the high school, Peter stayed behind to help hold the door open for other students who were fleeing a hail of bullets. Peter, who was in his JROTC uniform at the time, was shot multiple times and died at the scene.

As a result of his bravery, the prestigious military college will formally give a letter of admission and honorarium tokens to Wang’s family, according to sources in the local media.

Also, the U.S. Army bestowed a Medal of Heroism on Peter, as well as two other students. The Florida National Guard also honored Peter at the request of Governor Rick Scott.

Peter’s funeral was held on Tuesday.
