The hosts of ABC’s “The View” launched into an appalling rant about Vice President Mike Pence and his Christian faith on Tuesday.
The daytime talk show played a clip from disgraced ex-White House staffer (and perennial reality TV guest star) Omarosa Manigault Newman, who is now on the television program, “Big Brother.”
The clip showed Manigault Newman “crying” to another candidate, complaining about her time in the White House – and specifically about Pence.
“As bad as you think Trump is, you would be worried about Pence,” said Manigault Newman. “Everyone that is wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life. I am Christian, I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things.”
From there, the hosts had a field day – attacking Pence and his faith.
“I think what’s interesting is that she said Jesus tells Mike Pence things to say,” said co-host Sunny Hostin. She claimed to be a “faithful” Catholic but also said she didn’t want the Vice President of the United States “speaking in tongues.”
Co-host Joy Behar then interrupted, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” adding that she believed Pence’s dedication to his faith was a “mental illness.”
Only co-host Sherri Shepard came to Pence’s defense, and only in a limited capacity.
“As a Christian, that’s just par for the course,” she said. “You talk to Jesus, Jesus talks back. What concerns me is, how long is the conversation with Jesus?”
Hostin hit back: “Do we want our politics served to us with a religious veneer over them? This administration is not a values-driven administration.”
