Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau faced widespread ridicule on social media – after scolding a woman for uttering the word “mankind.”
The politically-correct word Trudeau insisted she used? “Peoplekind.”
The woman, who has not been identified by name but is reportedly affiliated with a group called World Mission Society Church of God, asked Trudeau a question about religious liberty during a town hall meeting:
“So, that’s why we came here today to ask you, to also look into the policies that religious charitable organizations have in our legislation so that it can also be changed because maternal love is the love that’s going to change the future of mankind” she began.
She was interrupted by Trudeau, who admonished her. “We like to say ‘peoplekind,’ not necessarily ‘mankind,’ because it’s more inclusive,” he told her.
Shortly after Trudeau’s comments, social media lit up – mocking Trudeau for his pretentious political correctness.
“Justin Trudeau is what would happen if the song ‘Imagine’ took human form and then ate a Tide Pod,” wrote Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro.
“In which Justine Trudeau interrupts a girl to correct her for saying ‘mankind’ instead of the more inclusive ‘peoplekind,'” wrote Daily Callers’ Peter Hasson. “Beyond parody.”
Despite Trudeau’s insistence, “peoplekind” is not a recognized word in the English language, and is not found in either the Merriam-Webster Dictionary or the Oxford English Dictionary.
