MSNBC host Joy-Ann Reid is raising eyebrows from a moronic tweet during last night’s State of the Union address – when she flipped out over Trump using words like “family” and “national anthem.”
Reid wrote:
“Church … family … police … military … the national anthem … Trump trying to call on all the tropes of 1950s-era nationalism. The goal of this speech appears to be to force the normalization of Trump on the terms of the bygone era his supporters are nostalgic for. #SOTU”
Reid did not address how those words relate to “1950s nationalism,” considering church, family, police, military, and the national anthem all existed long before the middle of the 20th Century.
But she did attract a response from the President’s son, Donald Trump Jr., who tweeted:
“Apparently Church, Family, Police, Military, and The National Anthem are things the left hates. I think we would all be a lot better off if we embraced those values that allowed us to become the greatest nation in the world.”
Reid clapped back, criticizing the President for having three marriages, “rob[bing] healthcare from the poor,” and “attacking federal law enforcement” by pointing out bias within the FBI.
However, despite Reid’s strong, negative feelings, the American people did not seem to share her anti-Trump sentiment during his well-received speech: according to a CBS poll shortly after the State of the Union, a whopping 75% of viewers said they approved of the address.
