Google now faces accusations of censoring Jesus.
Google’s virtual assistant, Google Home, can search the web for specific answers and has gained widespread praise for its wealth of knowledge.
But while Google can quickly describe other historical religious figures, such as Buddha, Muhammad, and Satan, there’s one glaring error: Google Home doesn’t know who Jesus of Nazareth is.
Television producer and author David Sams recorded a series of videos, where he asked Google Home a simple question: “Who is Jesus Christ?”
The digital assistant replied, “I’m not sure how to help you with that,” and, “Sorry, I’m not sure how to help” – phrases invoked when the device doesn’t understand the verbal command.
Google Home was also unable to identify “God,” but it could even tell Sams who he was.
“Google knew who I was, but Google did not know who Jesus was, Google did not know who Jesus Christ was, and Google did not know who God was,” Sams said. “It’s kinda scary, it’s almost like Google has taken Jesus and God out of smart audio.”
“I don’t know if there’s some kind of wizard making these decisions or if it’s some kind of oversight,” he added. “But whatever it is, they need to address it immediately.”
