In an article that’s more entertaining than the paper likely intended, the Los Angeles Times highlights the “scandalous” and “pornographic” scenes that are “raising eyebrows” about Republican congressional candidate Antonio Sabato Jr., a former Calvin Klein underwear model and longtime soap opera star who’s hoping voters will give him a career change after being “blacklisted” for supporting Trump. The Times puts the most emphasis on Sabato’s gay sex scenes, which it says “some conservatives” aren’t so happy about.
Sabato, whose film career includes roles on three soap operas — including “General Hospital,” “Melrose Place,” and “The Bold and the Beautiful” — is running to unseat Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley (D-Westlake Village), who won the 26th district big in 2016. Among his competitors on the Republican side is Ret. Air Force Maj. Jeffrey Burum, who has pointed to some of Sabato’s past roles as being “inconsistent” with the pro-family values Republican platform.

Sabaoto says he’s been “blacklisted” after openly supporting Donald Trump in 2016. While he remains “proud” of his support for Trump, he admits that he’s “not so proud” of a few past roles.
“I’ve done many movies. I’ve done things I’m proud of and things I’m not so proud of, that’s just the way any actor works,” said Sabato, the Times reports. “They don’t know what kind of congressman I’ll be, the work ethic I have.”
