President Donald Trump is ending his first year in office with the same approval rating as his predecessor, Barack Obama.

The latest Rasmussen poll shows President Trump with a 46 percent approval rating, and a 53 percent disapproval rating.

On the same date in 2009, Rasmussen showed Obama with the same approval rating: 46 percent approval and 53 percent disapproval.

That may or may not be good news for the Republican Party, considering that the Democrats suffered crippling, historic losses in the 2010 election. But, at the very least, it shows that President Trump is not substantially more unpopular than other Presidents — despite the left’s fervent resistance and media’s blatantly biased portrayals of his administration.

Trump’s approval rating has been improving in recent weeks, after Republican-led tax reform was passed and signed into law. In just those two weeks, Trump’s approval rating has ratcheted up nearly 3 percent in the RealClearPolitics average.
