Is one of President Trump’s most prominent sexual assault accusers lying?
Jill Harth, a New York makeup artist who gave a series of interviews in late 2016 where she accused then-candidate Donald Trump of sexually assaulting her, sent fawning emails to Trump in the year before – praising his presidential campaign and even asking for a job.
“Hi Donald, you are doing a tremendous job of shaking things up in the United States. I am definitely on Team Trump as so many others are,” Harth wrote, in an Oct. 1, 2015, email.
“I can’t watch television without seeing you or hearing your name everywhere! It’s a good thing for sure, but PLEASE let me do your makeup for a television interview, a debate, a photo session, anything!” she added. “It kills me to see you looking too orange and with white circles under the eyes. I will get your skin looking smoother and even toned.”
Four months later, on January 4, 2016, she emailed Trump’s personal assistant Rhona Graff. Harth told Graff that she was planning on attending a Trump campaign rally in Charlotte, North Carolina and wanted to participate in a meet-and-greet to say a “quick hello” and “show [her] support for his campaign personally.”
Graff gave Harth three reserved tickets, which Harth was very appreciative of, according to their correspondence. Harth finished her email response by saying, “We all want Trump to be President!!!”
The next day, Harth emailed again to tell Graff that she had met with comedian Gary Busey, who is “all for Trump for President.”
She also offered to be a surrogate for Trump: “I also want to put it out there that I would be willing to say at a rally or somewhere how DJT helped me with my self-confidence and all positive things about how he is with women to counter any potential negativity that may come out at some point in the campaign.”
A week later, after the rally, Harth emailed Graff again, calling the campaign event “very exciting” and saying that she and her guests “enjoyed every minute of it.” Harth reiterated her willingness to be Trump’s makeup artist, this time offering her self-described talents as a free donation to the campaign.
Harth claimed that Trump sexually assaulted her in 1993 at his Mar-a-Lago estate. However, Harth’s actions are alarming and raise salient questions: if she was so traumatized by Trump, why would she fawn over him and repeatedly ask him for employment years after the fact?
