With a 2012 executive order bypassing Congress, former president Barack Obama decided to give amnesty to as many as 2 million “Dreamers” who live in the United States, primarily brought in as children by their illegal alien parents, mostly from Mexico.
In September, President Trump ordered an end to the program that shields the young illegals from deportation, arguing that the cost for all those to stay would be astronomical.
And he’s right.
The Congressional Budget Office, a non-partisan branch of government that assesses the costs involved under proposed legislation, said on Friday that legalizing the two million illegal Dreamers would cost taxpayers nearly $26 billion over the next decade.
