A BuzzFeed editor is under fire after tweeting effusive praise for communism.
Kelly Oakes, who works as a science editor at BuzzFeed’s London branch, tweeted: “All I want for Christmas is full Communism now.”
Oakes’s shocking tweet was discovered by legendary actor James Woods – an avowed conservative – who tweeted a screenshot out to his followers with the caption: “#BuzzFeed editor. Enough said.”
This isn’t the first time a BuzzFeed reporter was caught getting a little too cozy with communism on Twitter: just last month, a US-based BuzzFeed reporter, Blake Montgomery, tweeted that the phrase “Victims of Communism” was a “white nationalist talking point.” He was later forced to apologize.
Oakes, however, has not apologized – but she has since made her Twitter feed private, due to the backlash.
A spokesperson for BuzzFeed declined to comment on Oakes’s communist sympathies.
