Bah, humbug! School administrators have banned Santa, gifts, and Christmas colors from the University of Minnesota – in the name of “religious diversity.”
The university circulated a memo among faculty and student employees, explaining precisely what pieces of holiday cheer were not welcome at the taxpayer-funded college.
Here’s what the full list of what the university has targeted as “not appropriate” because they “represent specific religious iconography”:
“Santa Claus, Angels, Christmas trees, Star of Bethlehem, Dreidels, Nativity scene, Bows/wrapped gifts, Menorah, Bells, Doves, Red and Green or Blue and White/Silver decorations,” with red and green being traditional Christmas colors and blue and white being traditional Hanukkah colors.

Bows and doves, apparently, are merely too offensive, disrespectful, and downright Christian for the grinches at the University of Minnesota.

But the U of M doesn’t want to spoil all the fun. In place of any minimally offensive “religious” paraphernalia, the university suggests hosting “neutral-themed parties such as a ‘winter celebration.'”
After all, nothing screams “holiday spirit” like a “neutral winter celebration.”
