Mattel has announced they’ll soon be releasing a new Barbie modeled off of the likeness of a leading member of the “Resistance.”
Executives selected former Olympic fencer Ibtihaj Muhammad, who recently came to national attention for her fierce criticism of President Donald Trump.
Muhammad, who competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, has previously shared that she did “not feel safe” as a Muslim living in America. She also accused Trump’s campaign of fostering a “climate of fear and hatred” and waging a “campaign of terror” against “justice and equality.”
But Muhammad was all smiles when she learned a doll with her likeness would join the Barbie line-up.
The newest barbie will be available for purchase sometime in 2018.
