Whoever said politics and sports don’t mix, never told the San Francisco 49ers, who decided to spearhead a push for gun control.
On Thursday, the 49ers revealed they would partner with law enforcement agencies across California and sign a pledge under the auspices of improving police relationships with their communities.
While that is undoubtedly noble, the campaign’s primary goal is to pass what liberals call “common sense” gun control, including a ban on bump stocks and silencers.
The team will shell out $ 500,000 – extra money it has in part to tax breaks – to sustain the gun-grabbing effort.
In a press release, the 49ers expressed hope that other teams would join their cause, stating: “We believe that professional sports teams should utilize their capacity to reach millions of Americans to promote [left-wing] initiatives…”
While players dabble in virtue signaling, the NFL continues to languish. An intense fan backlash has put the league’s once-promising future in doubt.
