A New Jersey judge has sentenced an illegal immigrant to only four years in jail for molesting a little girl.
Santiago Trinidad-Medina, 36, pleaded guilty in May to a charge of “endangering the welfare of a child,” after he sexually molested the girl in 2015.
This week, a judge sentenced him to four years in jail. Upon his release from prison, Trinidad-Medina will have to register as a sex offender and face a supervised parole term of 15 years.
However, Trinidad-Medina will likely be unable to stay in the country at all when he leaves jail: the judge also ordered an immigration detainer, meaning that Trinidad-Medina will face deportation.
Little justice is of no solace to Tinidad-Medina’s victim, who we hope and pray overcomes this traumatic ordeal.
