A public school teacher in Georgia has been booted from the classroom after she banned “Make America Great Again” t-shirts.
Lyn Orletsky, a math teacher at River Ridge High School in Cherokee County, told two students that they weren’t allowed to wear shirts emblazoned with President Trump’s popular election motto. She also compared the phrase to Hitler’s use of the swastika.
Unfortunately for Orletsky, her anti-MAGA hysteria was caught on video by one of her students and went viral. A petition on Change.org called for her resignation, explaining that, “This type of ignorance should not be tolerated in our community and goes against the ethics that we as Americans come to expect.”
The Cherokee County School District, which runs River Ridge High School, quickly apologized for Orletsky’s actions, asserting that “her actions were wrong” and that the students were not in violation of the school’s dress code.
According to the letter sent to parents of Orletsky’s students, the math teacher has not yet been fired, but the school district removed her from the classroom “effective immediately” and hired a substitute teacher.
