President Trump’s selection for the next director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, former assistant attorney general Christopher Wray, is already drawing praise from unlikely quarters.
Matthew Miller, a sharp critic of the president and a former spokesman for Attorney General Eric Holder, praised Wray’s selection.
Wray probably the best choice from the WH short list. His record in the Bush DOJ deserves scrutiny, but he’s a serious, respectable pick.

Senator Richard Blumenthal, a reliable Democrat from Connecticut, also expressed support for the selection on social media.
FBI nominee Wray has solid credentials – now this job will require independence & guts to stand up to political interference.

Even President Omaba’s former ethics czar, Norm Eisen, who’s been in the news for criticizing Trump, praised the pick.
