Two men, one of them an illegal immigrant, have been arrested for the kidnapping and rape of a 22-year-old autistic Missouri woman.
Luis Arnold Lopez-Lara, 25, and Helmer Alexander Erazo, 23, were both charged with two counts or rape, one count of sexual abuse, and two counts of kidnapping. Lopez-Lara is in the country illegally.
According to sources, the victim, who has not been named, walked away from her family’s home on April 15. Three days later, family members found her in a mobile home with Lopez-Lara and Erazo.
The victim, who has not been named, told police that, on April 15, she left home because she was upset with her family. While walking past a nearby mobile home, Lopez-Lara and Erazo began to catcall her, and urged her to come inside for a drink.
According to reports, Lopez-Lara removed the victim’s clothes and then sexually assaulted the victim multiple times, continuing after she told him to stop and attempted to escape the mobile home. When police arrived looking for the victim, who had initially been reported as a runaway, she was forced to hide in a closet. Erazo later grabbed her by the neck and told her that he and Lopez-Lara would kill her if she tried to leave.
The victim was held captive by Lopez-Lara and Erazo for three days with little food or drink, before family members discovered her whereabouts.
Lopez-Lara and Erazo are both being held in the county jail in Greene County, Missouri. US Immigrations and Customs enforcement has also been contacted about Lopez-Lara’s immigration status.
