Let’s be brief about this: Crooked Hillary got her ass totally kicked last night. Donald Trump, backed by millions of fed up Americans who were sick and tired of being told that they were chauvinists and sexists and misogynists; sick of being lied to, and sick of being underemployed and overregulated. They handed the candidate favored by the media and the chattering classes the electoral beating of a lifetime.

You might not be surprised. You might say Crooked Hillary was uniquely awful and unappealing. But how did the rest of the Dem field fare last night?

As Donald Trump might say: “Not good. Not good folks.”

The Federalist’s Sean Davis had a great time detailing how deliciously wrong the Democrats and the professional pollsters were. A few gems he retweeted last night:

Talking heads predicted a landslide victory.

Trump was supposed to fall prey to a wave of Hispanic enthusiasm. How’d that go?

Additionally, Republicans picked up at least two governorships in Vermont and Missouri, with things looking good in New Hampshire and North Carolina.

Republicans were expected to suffer major losses in the Senate, at the risk of losing their majority, but they retained the Senate majority. Conservative Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson pulled off a seemingly improbably victory over retread Russ Feingold.

When it was all said and done,  Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s biggest accomplishment turned out to be the creation of a conservative supermajority. President Trump will have the opportunity to repeal and replace Obamacare with something terrific. He may get to fill multiple vacancies on the Supreme Court.

For the first time, Republicans can actually say “thanks Obama.”
