For the first time since May, Republican Donald Trump is polling ahead of Democrat Hillary Clinton in the ABC News/Washington Post tracking poll of voters across the country.
According to the results released Tuesday morning — just one week before election day — Trump has 46 percent, Clinton has 45 percent, Libertarian nominee Gary Jonson has 3 percent and Green Party nominee Jill Stein has 2 percent.
The poll — conducted Oct. 27-30 — was in the field as the news broke Friday that the FBI is investigating newly discovered emails connected to Clinton’s home-brew server set up in her home while serving as secretary of state. The FBI director, James Comey, previously acknowledged the bureau conducted a criminal investigation to determine whether Clinton unlawfully sent or received classified information on her personal email account during that time. But over the summer, he said he did not recommend prosecuting the case.
