A video recently published by the Dallas Morning News depitcts the July 7 shooting of police officers by Black Nationalist terrorist Micah Johnson.

What is striking is that according to the video, the gunman did not open fire from a rooftop, instead being on the gound behind a pillar. After creating confusion, Johnson started the tactical withdrawl, attempting to get into a building by shooting through the glass. Unfortunately for him, two campus officers were on the other side of these windows, so he continued running down the street, flanking and killing another officer before finding another entrance into the building.

Once in the university building, police were slowly converging on his position, but Johnson had time to write “RB” in his own blood on the insides of a library. No one knows what “RB” is meant to signify for certain, but there are already theories out there. Johnson also took shots at a police cruiser from the windows on the second floor, killing one officer and wounding a second. He eventually holed up in a hallway of the library, where officer would be in his line of fire if he mounted an assault. Finally surrounding the shooter, Dallas officers displayed innovation and initiative by strapping an unmanned robot with C4 explosives, driving it toward Johnson before detonating it and killing him.

This reconstruction will be very useful for police departments to review and use for training, showing what they could have done differently and saving the lives of officers and civilians in future encounters similar to this one.
