In a conversation with Newsmax, Tea Party favorite Louis Gohmert issued a warning to evangelicals about trusting Donald Trump. Gohmert’s words are interesting:

Not only did Rep. Louie Gohmert tell Newsmax TV that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s comments on faith should be taken at face value, but he also warned Evangelicals that the real estate mogul could potentially being saying what he needs to say in order to win and will eventually go back on his remarks.

“I love a lot of the things that Donald Trump is saying but then you worry since he is a deal maker and he knows how to win,” Gohmert said Thursday on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.”

“Is he doing what he needs to do to win now, and then going to turn around and go back to the principles he stood on for nearly all of his life in the general election? And then evangelicals have nowhere else to go at that point,” the Texas Republican continued.

When discussing Trump’s past statements about not asking God for forgiveness, Gohmert said, “That really is amazing that evangelicals would say well clearly he has never admitted what Jesus said — you know you got to admit that you’re a sinner saved by the grace of Jesus and if you have never admitted that than it’s amazing that so many evangelicals will say ‘this is the guy.'”

Is Gohmert right? Can evangelicals trust Trump?
