As if one foreign policy crisis wasn’t enough, chilling new details have emerged from the Benghazi Committee. For Gowdy and company, the latest parade of Obama crises have allowed the committee to operate without slanted media coverage, and what’s been revealed is as chilling as you might imagine.

South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy  said Wednesday that the House Select Committee on Benghazi, which he chairs, has heard from witnesses who say that U.S. security team members were given stand-down orders as the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attacks were taking place.

Gowdy hastened to add that the Committee has also heard from witnesses who say the opposite, that the orders were not issued.

“There are witnesses who say there was one, there are witnesses who say there was not one,” Gowdy said during an interview with Boston Herald Radio.

Whether or not stand-down orders were given to U.S. security forces has become a major point of contention in the ongoing investigation into the attacks in Benghazi, which left four Americans dead.

The CIA, State Department and Obama White House have denied that the orders were given. But several members of the security team that responded to the attacks have claimed in interviews that a CIA officer ordered them to stand down while the attacks were unfolding.

If you needed any more proof that Democratic foreign policy leadership is a farce, this is it. As Rand Paul and many others have noted, Hillary’s failure to protect American lives in Benghazi should preclude her from the presidency.Kudos to Gowdy and company for pressing on to get to the bottom of this horrific tragedy.
