Ted Cruz put out a new ad that aired exclusively on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this morning, and the hosts were not kind about the content of the ad:
This week marks the reveal of several new highly touted political ads from many of the Presidential candidates vying for their party’s nomination. The latest ad set to run in the state of New Hampshire comes from Texas Senator Ted Cruz, which debuted exclusively Tuesday morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
The 60-second spot called “Invasion” features an array of banking executives and white collar American employees appearing to flee on foot as if they were going the way of illegal immigrants. “Then we would see stories of the economic calamity that has befallen our nation,” says the Cruz voiceover.
The ad ended and left cohosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough visibly stunned, before Scarborough deadpanned, “That’s just a weird ad.”
The rest of the Morning Joe panel agreed, as Scarborough added, “That’s not gonna connect with anybody.”
“I’m so glad you said that,” added Brzezinski. The ad which promotes FixOurBorder.com will begin running statewide in New Hampshire beginning Wednesday of this week.
The ad might not play well with the network’s tiny liberal base and Beltway dealmakers, but it is likely to help boost Cruz’s standing among GOP voters. That’s because the majority of Republicans have expressed strong support for the construction of a wall and the enforcement of our borders. As Rasmussen reported in August:
As far as voters are concerned – and not just Republicans – Donald Trump has a winning formula for fighting illegal immigration.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 70% of Likely Republican Voters agree with the GOP presidential hopeful that the United States should build a wall along the Mexican border to help stop illegal immigration. Seventeen percent (17%) of GOP voters disagree, while 13% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Ninety-two percent (92%) of Republicans agree that the United States should deport all illegal immigrants who have been convicted of a felony in this country. Only four percent (4%) disagree.
It’s amazing that at this point in the cycle, limousine liberals like Scarborough and Brzezinski still can’t hear the voices of angry Americans hungry for economic opportunities and the rule of law, or understand why candidates like Trump and Cruz are resonating so strongly with the American public. Then again, given their ratings, we shouldn’t be surprised.
